About Us

In March 2011 the people of the Vyrnwy valley learnt of the National Grid’s proposal to site a hub at either Abermule or Cefn Coch. The proposal for Cefn Coch included marching pylons carrying 400,000 volt cables down the Vyrnwy valley.

At the end of March 2011 a local farmer, Jonathon Wilkinson called a meeting at the Rugby Club in Meifod to talk about the proposal. So many people tried to crowd into the club that the meeting was adjourned to the village hall. On April 6th at a big and animated meeting a committee was proposed to steer the community in its fight against the pylons and against the wind farms that had caused the National Grid to seek a route (which would be the longest in the country) from Montgomeryshire to join up with National Grid lines in Shropshire.

Some of us are specialists in certain areas but we are all united in our desire to keep the Vyrnwy valley free of pylons and Montgomeryshire free of wind-farms on an industrial scale. You can get in touch with any of us, to discuss specific issues or to volunteer to help, at or using the individual email links below and we will do our best to give you any information or advice that you need.
